Lori Butts, Director,
HLCC Director – Lori began teaching at HLCC in 2006 and became the school’s director in November 2013. She had taught two years’ prior when her son Kaleb attended preschool here as well. She married her husband, Tim, in August of 1990, and they have three children: Nichole, Tyler, and Kaleb, and two grandchildren. Lori attended COTC and received a diploma from the International Correspondence School in Child Day Care. She also completed her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in 2009. Her hobbies include painting ceramics and paint-by-numbers, putting puzzles together, reading Christian mysteries, and spending time with family.
Karen Wiegerig, Teacher
Karen has been teaching at HLCC since February 2001. She is a graduate of Watkins Memorial High School and attended CTI and Columbus State Community College. She has also completed the Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential, which focuses on early childhood education and earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Ashford University. She has been married to her husband Rob since 1986. They have four children and three grandchildren. Karen has a large extended family which includes dogs, cats, a turtle, and foster kittens. Karen enjoys reading, gardening, antiquing & picking, going to the zoo and movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Laura Fout, Teacher
Laura began teaching at HLCC in December 2008. She has been married to her husband, Rick since September 1997 and they have 3 children; Nate, Ryan, and Samantha along with three cats and a dog. Laura graduated from Watkins Memorial High School in 1993 and attended The Ohio State University for Early Childhood Education. Laura has completed the Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential, which focuses on Early Childhood Education. Laura enjoys watching her children play sports, walking, reading, shopping, music and watching movies.
Tricia Johnston, Teacher
Tricia began at Hosanna Lutheran Childhood Center in August of 2013. She and her husband, Bob were married in May of 1991 and have four children. Noah, Lydia, Aidan, and Jenna along with four cats, a dog, and two bunnies. Tricia graduated with an associate degree in science from Xavier University, specializing in X-ray technology. She has volunteered in her children’s classrooms for 13 years and has been a Girl Scout troop leader for nine years. Tricia completed her Child Development Associates (CDA) certification in 2015. Her hobbies include gardening, quilting and DYI projects.
Susan Downs, Teacher
Susan started at HLCC in August of 2014. She has been married to her husband, Todd, since May of 2002. They have two children, Allison and Abigail. Susan graduated from Eastmoor High School and received a bachelor’s degree in natural resources from The Ohio State University. She loves to read, swim and enjoys watching her girls swim competitively. She also loves to do needlepoint and crochet.
Michelle Chernisky, Teacher
Michelle Chernisky started at HLCC in August of 2016. Michelle’s family includes her husband George, since 2001, her daughter Kaitlyn, and her son Matthew. Their extended family includes two Guinea Pigs, Ginger & Patches. Michelle graduated from Culver City High School and has a bachelor’s in speech communications from California State University, Northridge. Michelle has spent several years volunteering in the Southwest Licking school district and with the Girl Scouts. Michelle’s hobbies include scrapbooking, sewing, crocheting and going to car shows with her family in her 1960 Studebaker Lark Convertible.
Amanda Morris, Teacher
Amanda came on staff at HLCC in 2017. She is married to her husband Travis and has two girls – Josephine and Eleanor – and three cats. Amanda graduated from Ohio University with her BAED in Preschool – Third grade and her Master’s in Intervention Specialist for K- 12. During her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, music, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
Erin Bryant, Teacher
Erin has been with HLCC since 2018. She grew up in Pataskala and graduated from Watkins Memorial. She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Miami University and her Masters of Social Work from OSU, and is currently working to receive her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and has been working with children since 2007. Erin has been married to her husband Brad since 2009 and has four children: Cullen, McBride, Brindley, and Brooks. A dog, Afton and a cat, Harrison round out the family. Her hobbies include singing, playing with the kids, exercising and enjoying vacations at the beach.
Tabatha Krueger, Teacher
Tabatha joined the HLCC staff in February 2019. She grew up in the military while her father was in the Navy, then finished high school in Zanesville. Tabatha has completed two years of coursework in K-8 interdisciplinary studies at Western Governor’s University, and is currently working to obtain her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Before moving to Etna, Tabatha lived in South Carolina and Seattle, Washington with her husband while he was also in the Navy. They have two children Lucy and Hattie. The family also includes dogs, cats, and and a snake. Tabatha is a foodie who enjoys watching movies, and because she loves animals so much, the zoo is her favorite place to visit
Abby Gordon, Teacher
Abby joined the HLCC staff in April 2019. She is a graduate of Watkins Memorial High School and has an associate degree in business management from COTC. She is currently working to obtain her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Abby has two children with her husband Kevin: Gwyneth and Graham. A dog named Emma completes their family. Abby enjoys boating, camping, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, and spending time with family.
Brandy Daniels, Assistant Administrator/Bookkeeper,
Two of Brandy’s children attended HLCC, and during that time she served as both secretary and president of the HLCC Board of Trustees. She joined the staff as bookkeeper in 2014. Brandy has her associate’s degree in office management from Zane State College and a bachelor’s in applied management from Ohio University. She also works as a remote administrative assistant, web designer, and bookkeeper for several small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Brandy has four children with her husband Gary. She enjoys music, super hero movies, and going to Blue Jacket hockey games.
Kathleen Paugh, Substitute
Kathleen began helping at HLCC in September 2018. Kathleen has been married to her husband, Tim since December 1999. They have three children, Jillian, Kiona and Koen. She graduated from Reynoldsburg High School. She enjoys baking and cooking, painting and working with her church youth group.
Emily Spangler, Substitute
Emily joined our staff originally in 2019 to bring physical education into the preschool. She graduated from Watkins Memorial and has a bachelor’s in education from Ashland University. Emily and her husband Scott have three children: Ellie, Etta, and Sam. A dog, a bunny, and several chickens complete their family. Emily loves outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and gardening, but she also enjoys taking time to just relax with her husband and children.
Gary Daniels, Substitute
Gary has been assisting the preschool with technology needs for the past several years. He has an associate’s degree in human resource management. He served in the USAF for 27 years, first in aircraft maintenance working on F-15s, then in personnel services for the Ohio Air National Guard. Gary retired from active duty in 2019. He has four children with his wife Brandy, and they work together as website design consultants for small businesses and nonprofits. Gary enjoys building things, solving computer problems, and gardening.
Debby Dilallo, Substitute
Debby Dilallo began helping at HLCC in October 2016. Debby has been married to her husband, Bob since December 2008. They have five children and 19 grandchildren. She graduated from American High School. She enjoys spending time with her family and sleep overs with the grandchildren, watching them play sports, baking, playing cards, watching Blue Jackets and Cincinnati Reds. Debby also volunteers at the Pataskala Storehouse for Jesus.
Troy Fraker, Substitute
Troy Fraker joined our staff in 2019 as a classroom and lunch aide. Troy is a graduate of Watkins Memorial High School. He has a brother and two sisters, two dogs and one cat. Troy enjoys spending time with friends, and going on adventures with his girlfriend, driving to new places to explore.
